Greenfield is a junior, co-educational independent school for children from 3-11 years. Greenfield School may be described succinctly - 'Excellence and Enthusiasm'. We believe in excellence in all areas, and we know that this is best achieved through enthusiasm - from staff as well as pupils.
Accommodation at Greenfield is spacious; recent restructuring has resulted in brand new classrooms for all Pre-school and Key Stage 1 pupils and in 1997 a Sports/Performing Arts Hall will complete the building programme. Our new School Library offers a choice of some 10,000 titles to pupils, who are taught library skills, and who have daily access to the books.
Greenfield has established a musical tradition, offering a wide range of instrumental tuition and has a thriving orchestra. Two school choirs participate in local and national events.
Sport is enjoyed by all children and in Key Stage 2 the emphasis is firmly upon team sports, thus football, netball, hockey, rugby and cricket are played, with matches arranged with other local schools. Additionally, all pupils from Year 2 swim weekly throughout the year.
Greenfield's I.T. programme is robust and typically integral to the curriculum and children from Preparatory to Year 6 regularly use Pentium computers; touch typing is taught to Key Stage 2 children.
Greenfield is 'user friendly' - thus we offer Breakfast Club for 'early birds', and an After School care facility until 5.45pm. Additionally there are 18 Activity Clubs after school hours and a Prep Club for homework to be undertaken. Each morning the Principal personally greets every pupil, and thus is readily available to parents, quite apart from the formal pre-arranged interviews, such as Parents Evenings. A weekly Newsletter ensures excellent communication.
French is taught to 5/6 year olds upwards, and in their final year pupils learn Latin, German and Spanish. Years 5 & 6 enjoy residential trips to France.
Parents are offered sound guidance on 11+ Senior School choices and almost all Greenfield pupils achieve places at first choice schools. Scholarships have been won by pupils for three successive years.
Greenfield School is well worth a visit - the Principal Mrs Jennifer Becker welcomes prospective parents at all times.
